Training in Care

Welcome to Care-Ability Training. We offer a range of care training courses targeted specifically at those working within the learning disability community.

As a City and Guilds accredited centre our Induction training is certified and therefore eligible for full grant funding (subject to availability). After decades of traditional care home style care, where staff are constantly managed and directed in their daily duties, the dramatic and inevitable transition to a supported living environment requires a similarly dramatic change to training in care for staff. Assisting not doing; reporting; decision making; taking initiative; PCP participation; risk management; recognition and management of challenging behaviours are just some of the new fundamentals that need to underpin the traditional generic elements of induction and are the areas we expand upon in our individual courses. Times are changing. Care training must adapt to cope.

About Care-Ability Training Ltd We're proud to be different. We come at our care training from a different angle to most. Some training for care organisations tend to think that an Induction into Care is generic and works for everyone. Some will train HCA's alongside Learning Disability support workers. Some will treat Learning Disabilities as a small part of their total offering.

Funding for care training Funding for care training at accredited centres, like Care-Ability, is often available from Government-backed organisations, like Skills for Care, in order to ensure that the care workforce has a uniformity of skills. For the most part, this relates to the Core Induction standards, which we have priced at a level so that our 4 day Induction programme, if completed successfully, will be virtually free of charge.

Trainers in care As an organisation, we know that we need to inspire the individuals we train. To fire them up for the challenges that face them and to give them the knowledge that will keep them and their clients safe. In our experienced trainers we have found true inspiration.
